Chamboree is an international camp, held in Cheshire every four years.
The next Chamboree will take place from Friday 7th August until Sunday 14th August 2026, as Chamboree returns for an animal kingdoms-themed week of adventure, entertainment and meeting Scouts and Guides from around the country and the world. From Squirrels, Beavers and Rainbows up to to Explorers and Rangers, the young people in attendance will take part in a programme of building confidence, experiencing new adventures, trying new activities and gaining new skills complemented by nightly evening entertainment.

SSAGO's Role At the Event

There will be two main groups of SSAGOers at Chamboree - those who are attending as volunteers with their sections, and those volunteering as members of the International Service Team (IST) with SSAGO Support! The IST will be volunteering all over site over the course of the week: running activities, making sure that site keeps running, staffing catering, and much more! You can specify which team you want to sign up to as a part of the IST booking process, to help shape your Chamboree so you have the most fun (and are in a role best suited to you)

The SSAGO Support Project aims to get together SSAGOers to volunteer at Scouting and Girlguiding events such as Chamboree, and you can join it here if you haven't already to gain access to the #support channel on the SSAGO Discord server. We're hoping to organise SSAGO Support contingents to UK-based international camps every year going forward if we can, to give back to the organisations running them (and get together and have fun while we do it!)

Booking

IST bookings are currently open on the Chamboree website until the 13th March, for anyone wanting to join SSAGO Supports in volunteering as a part of IST. You'll need to book on through the official website for your booking to be official, this event only exists so that SSAGOers can see who else is going and to help somewhat formalise the SSAGO Supports IST contingent!

If you would like to book onto Chamboree but do not hold a Scout or Guide role, please contact us at chamboree@ssago.org or via our Contact Us page - we can get you added to the SSAGO SASU/UKST so that you're able to attend. Please note that this has a bit of a turnaround time, due to requiring us to go through a DBS process, so don't leave it too late!

Costs

If you're booking onto Chamboree to join SSAGO Supports as IST, then the pricing is as follows:

• Self-Catered, full week - £25
• Catered, full week- £120
• Less than full week - prices vary (see website), with the option to add catering for £5 per meal

There's more information at www.chamboree.org.uk/event-team - note that although the website says all payments must be made by the 19th December, we've confirmed with the Cheshire Scouts team that this isn't the case and bookings (and payments) are still open until the 13th March.

Accomodation

Chamboree is held at the Cheshire Showground, and so does not have indoor accommodation available - most attendees will be camping. There is information about caravanning, campervanning and car camping on the Chamboree FAQs page for anyone looking to bring something other than a tent as IST!
